How It Works

Follow these easy instructions to connect your printer to a new Wi-Fi network:

1. Ensure Your Printer is Powered On

Before starting the process, make sure your printer is powered on. If your printer is in sleep mode, wake it up by pressing any button on the control panel.

2. Access the Printer’s Control Panel

Most modern printers have a control panel or touchscreen where you can adjust settings. Navigate to the Wi-Fi settings section of the printer’s menu. This is typically found under Settings or Network on the screen.

3. Select the Wi-Fi Network

  • For touchscreen printers: Go to Wireless Setup Wizard or Network Settings, and your printer will search for available Wi-Fi networks in range.

  • For printers with buttons: If your printer has a smaller display or no touchscreen, you may need to press the Wireless button or Setup button, then use the arrow keys to scroll through the network options.

  • Select your new Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks.

4. Enter the Wi-Fi Password

After selecting your network, the printer will prompt you to enter your Wi-Fi password. Use the on-screen keyboard (or physical buttons, depending on your printer model) to input your password accurately. Make sure you enter the correct password for your new network.

5. Confirm the Connection

Once you’ve entered the password, select OK or Connect to establish the connection. The printer should now connect to your new Wi-Fi network. Most printers will display a confirmation message or a Wi-Fi icon when the connection is successful.

6. Check the Printer’s Connection

Once your printer is connected, it’s a good idea to check the connection. Print a network configuration page or Wi-Fi status report (this option is available in your printer’s settings menu) to confirm that your printer is connected to the new Wi-Fi network.

7. Reinstall Printer Drivers (If Needed)

If you’re unable to print after connecting the printer to the new Wi-Fi, you may need to reinstall or update the printer drivers on your computer. Here’s how:

  • Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click Remove Device. Then, add it back by clicking Add a Printer or Scanner and following the instructions.

  • Mac: Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, click the + button to add your printer, and follow the on-screen prompts.

8. Print a Test Page

Once everything is set up, print a test page to ensure your printer is properly connected and communicating with your device over the new Wi-Fi network. If the test page prints successfully, your printer is now connected to the new Wi-Fi network!
